With financial expert, Martin Lewis and UK economists predicting that the cost of living crisis will be far worse than first feared, we looked to help a charity in our community and are asking other businesses to help were they, if they can.

We recently went to visit the team at Calderdale SmartMove, to see for ourselves the great work they deliver and to learn more about the empowering and vital lifelines this local charity provides to support 100s of vulnerable individuals and families across our home borough.

Richard Bradley, Founder and CEO of acceptcards® said to the press; “Calderdale has always been our home, our first offices were in Dean Clough before moving to Elland in 2012. The cost of living crisis is going to affect everyone in one way or another, but we all know it will hit the vulnerable the hardest. As an independent business, we’ve had to prepare for the winter and beyond and it was during these meetings we knew we need to act to help our community.”

He continued; “We are proud to be able to make a donation of £5000 to help Calderdale SmartMove continue to provide support to some of the most vulnerable in our hometown. It was really important for us to choose a charity that makes a real difference in the lives of the people they support and with a success rate of nearly 96% gave us the confidence we needed to know our donation would do good in our community.

I know we have just got a new Prime Minister and chancellor, with lots being said after their mini-budget, we are waiting to daily hear what Liz Truss will say and do, but I’m calling on businesses in Brighouse, Elland, Halifax, Hebden Bridge, Sowerby Bridge & Todmorden who are in a position to help please don’t to wait and please join us by stepping in to make a real difference to lives in our towns.”

Stuart Rumney CEO of Calderdale SmartMove said; “It was great to be able to invite and meet Richard to our office. The money donated by acceptcards® is a real boost to us, their support means we can help more vulnerably housed families and help to avoid the difficult choices of eating or heating this winter.”

Stuart continued; “Calderdale has a rich history of pulling together when times are tough, I’m hoping other local companies follow acceptcards and help where they can, I can’t thank Richard,  Jason Costello and the acceptcards team enough, it’s because of the generosity of organisations like theirs we are able to have a positive impact to the lives of so many.”

Calderdale SmartMove’s “The Big Calderdale Sleep Out 2022” is taking place on Saturday 8th October were people will be sleeping out in the open in Halifax’s iconic Piece Hall.
