Our very own Jason Costello, Head of Marketing & Communications, was part of the core team of walkers for March of the Day III, a continuous six-day, 350-mile fundraising challenge that has raised £135,000 so far for MND causes.
As a company, we are proud to have supported such an epic event that brought together businesses, partners and communities to raise funds and awareness for people affected by Motor Neurone Disease.
From Monday 1st to Saturday 6th June, walkers covered 350 miles from the River Mersey in Liverpool to the River Aire in Leeds. acceptcards supported the challenge as stage sponsors and throughout the week, with Jason Costello stepping up for the first 3 days from Anfield Liverpool, to Stockport County’s Edgeley Park, walking through the night, grabbing a few hours sleep on a minibus over the two nights.
The final stages saw around 200 people come together for the last 11 miles from Leeds United’s Elland Road before travelling via Leeds Rhinos’ Headingley ground to the finish at the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease, bringing an incredible week of fundraising and awareness to a close.
The event also demonstrated the strength of collaboration across the business community. On Wednesday, partners from The CFO Centre, Chris Holliday and Phil MacDiarmid, joined Mark Firth Senior Partner Manager and Richard Bradley, CEO, for an early start from Salford City through to Swinton Lions, underlining the collective support behind the event.
Funds raised through March of the Day III will support the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation and Leeds Hospitals Charity, helping fund vital care, support and services for people affected by MND. Reaching £135,000 is a significant milestone and a testament to the generosity of everyone who has donated, shared the campaign and supported the challenge.
